The MicroArrays are manufactured by printing the DNA probes, suspended in optimized spotting buffer, to the glass slides showing high coupling efficiency. This spotting chemistry provides the highest hybridization intensities, which are a consequence of a better binding of the probe to the
slide and their accessibility to the cDNA targets.
The MicroArrays are printed with the VersArray® ChipWriter Pro System (Bio-Rad), a high precision dispensing robot. This robot is able to produce 1.25 µm resolution (x,y axis), 0.25 µm resolution (z axis), with 3 µm repeatability and 10 µm global accuracy using zero deflection, special proprietary alignment techniques and sub-micron level resolution instrumentation.
In order to generate high quality spots, the printing procedure is performed under a double-glass insulated cabinet with positive air pressure, HEPA filter and humidifier. This system allows to avoid dust, to control the spotting quality (morphology, spot diameter and uniformity) and DNA sample evaporation.
