Development and production of a full long oligo DNA MicroArray representing the complete set of S. lividans / S. coelicolor genes was . The 7512 chromosome genes, the 351 SCP1 plasmids genes and the 33 SCP2 plasmids genes sequences were downloaded from the Sanger Institute website. In order to perform gene specific primer design of long oligos with the best possible thermo dynamical features for DNA array applications, the array designer 3.0 software commercialised by Premier biosoft was acquired. 7896 long oligos specific to the corresponding (putative) genes of S. coelicolor A3(2)(S. lividans) of a size of 68 bases were designed and produced at the Eurogentec’s oligo production facility.
A complete set of DNA array specific controls such as positive, negative, dynamic range, spatial, normalization, hybridisation efficiency, reverse transcription efficiency and resistance genes controls were designed and produced
