Alternative choices

ROX is a member of the Rhodamine family and is frequently used as a reporter dye, especially for fluorescent DNA sequencing and RT-qPCR.

Compared to the fluorescein family of dyes, Rhodamine dyes are more resistant to photo bleaching and stable over a wider pH range.

The relatively long wavelength emission maximum for ROX makes it an attractive choice in multiplex detection systems.
