TAMRA is an abbreviation for carboxytetramethylrhodAmine. TAMRA exists as 5- and 6-derivatives, or as a mixture of both isomers. TAMRA can be used as a fluorophore or as a quencher.

TAMRA can be inserted at the 3’end using TAMRA-CPG support or used within the sequence as a replacement for a dT residue. If required, TAMRA is also available internally as TAMRA NHS ester but this requires the presence of an amino-modifier.
